DeLaSalle Education Center is committed to serving students in a high school setting where personalized education, holistic services, and workforce development are all incorporated to benefit our students.
Students choose DeLaSalle because they know that we provide an education that will help them learn, grow and succeed.
DeLaSalle Education Center is the only alternative charter high school in Missouri dedicated to serving at-promise urban core students. Many of our students have fallen behind in their grade level and face overwhelming academic needs and personal challenges. DeLaSalle’s unique combination of small class sizes, wraparound support services and workforce development programs give our students the tools they need to succeed and graduate.
Our History, Our Future
We’re proud of our past and excited about our future. Since our incorporation in 1971, DeLaSalle has served more than 14,000 students who would face an uncertain future without competent reading, math, and employment skills.
In conjunction with the revitalization of DeLaSalle Education Center that started this school year, we are currently undergoing a significant redesign and improvement of course offerings and industry-related partnerships, all to better prepare students to graduate with relevant workforce skills and academic preparation for higher education. This new academic program is currently being developed with input from students and families of DeLaSalle, as well as neighborhood leaders, business leaders and the broader community. “DeLaSalle 2.0” will be a model of real-world education based on strong career readiness, and will be in place for the 2019-2020 school year.
As a part of this transformation process, the DeLaSalle Board of Directors has committed to conducting a nationwide search for an Executive Director. The Board is focusing especially on candidates with experience in implementing an academic program of this nature, particularly for students that have had less success in traditional environments.
For this current school year, Dr. Elizabeth Ann Sanders continues to serve as Executive Director and the Board of Directors is extremely grateful for her thoughtful leadership, beginning last year and continuing through this academic year. Her professionalism and guidance throughout this transition period has been extraordinary for the students, families and staff of DeLaSalle. Dr. Sanders is eligible and considering whether to apply for the Executive Director role for next school year under the new academic model, and should she decide to apply, the Board would welcome her interest in being an applicant in this process and give her full consideration.
