The Lee's Summit School District contracted with the DeLaSalle Education Center in 1993 to assist the district in the planning, implementing, and managing this Jackson County Family Court school. The Hilltop Residential Facility for boys is a 48-bed facility. Students are placed in the program by the Jackson County Juvenile Court.
The goal of the DeLaSalle Hilltop School is for every student to make preparations to return to his or her home school, some other alternative school setting, or in some cases to acquire vocational skills to go straight to the workplace. The Hilltop school embodies a highly structured environment based on the premise of evaluation, intervention, treatment, and accountability on the part of the each resident.
Hilltop is staffed to serve up to 54 residential students and up to 13 Lee's Summit day students. Annually over 100 youth receive services. Students experience a solid curriculum in the four areas of English, math, social studies, and science. The academic experience is further enriched through reading, computer literacy, health and physical education, life skills, and art classes. Special needs youth receive services from a special education teacher.
