Building Opportunity: Our Renovation Project

A successful capital campaign, New Markets Tax Credits and the tireless effort of determined individuals has resulted in the renovation and expansion project for DeLaSalle. The 2013-2014 school year began on September 9, 2013 in the newly renovated and expanded Norman O. Sanders wing and the renovated Kobets wing. A community celebration was held on campus on Oct. 16, 2013.

Construction crews from JE Dunn began leveling the front grounds of the school and the former Henry’s Garage in September 2012. The project includes the addition of 18,000 sq. ft. of programming space and substantial upgrades to the existing facility.

The project constructed a new addition connected to the existing high school building on its northwest side, with a new Troost Avenue address. The new building allows DeLaSalle to expand and upgrade already successful holistic support programs and an experiential learning environment.

Leadership for campaign fundraising was provided by Honorary Chairmen William H. Dunn, Sr. and J. Philip Kirk and Chairman Charles W. Schellhorn. The campaign committee that negotiated the tax credit allocation was led by Frank McCarthy. The project was completed at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.
